Under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, an air receiver commonly refers to any vessel containing compressed air and connected with an air compressing plant. What does the “air” refer to?

In alignment with international standards such as EN 12021, “air” refers to atmospheric or natural air composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% traces of other gases such as argon, carbon dioxide and water vapour. This includes air mixtures within 10% variation from atmospheric or natural air composition – for example, where oxygen content varies from standard 21% to between 19% and 23%.
